Having been sick for the past week or so, I thought I'd have literally passed out by now, but after taking a warm shower (yea yea, sick people shouldn't take warm showers, there's even such a thing known as cold shower therapy... pfft) and taking two codral pills, I actually feel almost alive, which is a miracle itself, considering how my timetable went like this:

Mon: Went to work and got sick afterwards (thanks to someone who came to work sick two days in a row and passed it along to me =_=)
Tues: Uni full-time, 9-4pm. With transport, it's 5:30am-7pm. PL took pity on me and brought me to her dorm, where she made hot lemon drink for me =) THANK YOU!!
Wed: Placement full-time, 8:30- 4:30, in my case, 5:30-7:30pm with transport. I was almost dying by the end of that day. Fever that night.
Thurs: Today, work from 1:45-9:15, didn't manage to get proper breaks, but PB took pity on me and made me a mint/ginger tea. Not the best tasting drink, but I really appreciated the thought. Received many flattering comments of "gosh, you look terrible". =(

Thank God it's Friday. Literally. I've never felt more thankful for it.

From Week 11, 2010

So after this entry, don't expect any entries for a while because sick people do not like taking photos. Sick people do not like eating, and sick people like to whinge a lot.... as you can see. Looking at photos while blogging doesn't really bring the joy it usually does... but when I had them, I was actually happy.

This bagel was from Bagel House. I guess what made it even better was that it was free. A delivery of about 6 bags of bagels came to Franklins one Saturday morning, and we don't even sell them, so we benefited from this error because since the barcode won't scan, we can't sell them- staffs get to take them home free. There were only 6 bags of them, 2 poppyseeds, 4 plain. Because I was at work that Saturday at 6:30am, I scored the poppyseed one =D

From Week 11, 2010
Bagels are great with cream cheese. I usually like the blueberry bagels because it really smells so good, but poppyseeds are good too =)

From Week 11, 2010
"If it's not boiled, it's not a bagel!" I always thought it was interesting how they made bagel. I found out they boiled them before baking them from Yakitate! Japan, when Azuma made a version of bagel where he deep-fried, boiled and then baked his bagel (I think). Anime can be so educational =D

From Week 11, 2010
Free Lindt bunny soft toy! The Lindt representative came to Franklins this year again to promote lindt chocolates and she set up this spin-a-wheel thing, where you can either get the lindt bunny, three little lindt chocolates, or a card with a code, so when you register online, you get something... I spun and got the chocolates ;  ; But an hour later while walking past her again, she gave me the last bunny =D So I got both the bunny and the chocolates!

From Week 11, 2010
Revisited Mizuya again for lunch one day and this was what we had- a duck salad! I don't remember the cost anymore, and threw away the receipt (which showed the cost of each dish), so it was around $9... not cheap, but it's so good!

From Week 11, 2010
Close up on a roast duck piece.

From Week 11, 2010
The special twist to this salad? The century eggs. I've always liked century eggs, and duck is THE best bird to eat, so this salad was a winner. Sesame sauce to go with everything... it kind of reminded me of the sesame sauce used in hiyashi chuuka ramen.

From Week 11, 2010
TT's gyoza set.

From Week 11, 2010
These gyoza were handmade, and I'm guessing that means it's made in the store by the chef and not bought frozen like some restaurants do... it was really good =D Skin was thin and hole-less, and there's a little soup inside (of course, nothing beats good xlb, but at least it's not dry and tasteless)

From Week 11, 2010
Set came with some braised items, like konyaku and carrot... meat...

From Week 11, 2010
My set arrived quite a bit later. Chose some fried seafood and veggie set.

From Week 11, 2010
Prawn, Fish 1, scallop, Fish 2.

From Week 11, 2010
Tomatoes, eggplant, onion... which both of us didn't eat. Who eats big chunks of onions that are half raw?!

Overall, the cost was about $40, definitely not too cheap, but quite interesting. We haven't tried dinner there yet, but I think it's time to try other new places... when this flu decides to leave me, that is. Might be a while before we try Mizuya again. It's really more of the place to go to when there's a big group, and if this big group likes karaoke.

One last photo:
From Week 11, 2010
A small container of shark fin soup from the night markets. It's really strange that they'd sell something like shark fin soup at the Friday night markets at China Town. Small container costs $5, but it's actually pretty good. Definitely nothing compared to real sharkfin soup, but I was surprised that it tasted as good as it did. I have a feeling they put a lot of pepper for a reason, but since I like pepper, it didn't matter =D

So that's the end last week. This week... I haven't been anywhere ._. At least this blog is finally up to date with the present.
"To bed, to bed."

I didn't know sick people are meant to take warm showers.. I always do.. I feel better after!

I'm trying very hard to find the sharks fin... that little strand there.. sure it's not a trick of the light?

Maybe it's old wives' tales, but warm showers dehydrate, and if you're having a fever, warm showers will just increase your external body's temperature when you should really be trying to cool it down (reduce the fever).

... I really think that's fake sharks fin, but if you think it's there, then I won't argue =P
